Vericom: A Verification and Communication architecture for IoT-based blockchain

Blockchain has received tremendous attention as a secure, distributed, and anonymous framework for the Internet of Things (IoT). As distributed system, blockchain trades off scalability distribution, which limits technology’s adaptation large scale networks such IoT. All transactions blocks must be broadcast verified by all participants incurs computational communication overheads. The existing solutions to blockchains have so far led partial recentralization, limiting original appeal. In this paper, we introduce yet scalable Verification Communication architecture referred Vericom. Vericom concurrently achieves high distribution using hash function outputs shift from multicast communication. Unlike conventional where nodes verify new transactions/blocks, uses IoT traffic randomly select set transactions/blocks in turn reduces processing overhead. incorporates two layers: (i) transmission layer randomized multicasting method is introduced along with backbone network route traffic, i.e., blocks, source destination, (ii) verification selected are allocated each transaction or block. performance evaluation shows that packet overhead compared blockchains. worst case, scales linearly number while remains scale-independent.
